2024 summer programs

Momentum Tutoring is so excited to kick off our Summer 2024 program! We will be offering academic and extra-curricular elective workshops this summer for grades K-12! Students and parents can choose as many workshops as they want! Academic workshops will meet Monday through Thursday.

Please note - there are different registration forms for the workshops and for the electives and projects. If you are interested in our full summer workshop programs, please read below. If you are interested in signing up separately for our summer electives and/or projects, please click HERE

What will be covered in the summer workshops?

  • Grades K-2 Primary Workshops

    • K-2 Primary Reading Workshop*

      • The K-2 Primary Reading Workshop is designed to be interactive, with tutors providing support and guidance as students explore and practice foundational reading skills. Activities include guided reading, phonics games, and literacy centers that focus on different aspects of reading development. The goal is to create a strong foundation for future reading success and cultivate a lifelong love for reading.​

    • K-2 Primary Writing Workshop

      • The K-2 Primary Writing Workshop for students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade is designed to foster the development of foundational writing skills, creativity, and a love for expressing ideas on paper. These workshops involve a combination of explicit instruction, guided practice, and opportunities for independent writing.​

  • Grades 3-5 Intermediate Workshops

    • 3-5 Intermediate Reading Workshop​

      • The 3-5 Intermediate Reading Workshop evolves to meet the needs of more independent readers. The focus is on building advanced comprehension skills, expanding vocabulary, and exploring more complex literary elements.​

    • 3-5 Intermediate Writing Workshop

      • The 3-5 Intermediate Writing Workshop aims to nurture students' individual writing styles, deepen their understanding of different writing genres, and provide opportunities for creative expression. Tutors provide a supportive environment for students to develop their writing skills while encouraging independence and self-reflection.​

    • 3-5 Intermediate Math Workshop

      • The 3-5 Intermediate Math Workshop aims to build a strong foundation in mathematical concepts while fostering a positive attitude towards problem-solving and mathematical exploration. Tutors employ a variety of instructional strategies to engage students actively in the learning process, ensuring a balance between conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application of mathematical skills​

  • Grades 6-8 Advanced Workshops

    • 6-8 Advanced Reading Workshop​

      • The 6-8 Advanced Reading Workshop aims to further develop students' critical reading skills, deepen their understanding of literary elements, and foster a lifelong love of reading. Tutors provide a supportive environment that encourages independent thinking and meaningful discussions about literature.​

    • 6-8 Advanced Writing Workshop

      • The 6-8 Advanced Writing Workshop aims to continue developing students' writing skills across a variety of genres, fostering creativity, and preparing them for the more advanced writing tasks they will encounter in high school and beyond. Tutors create a supportive and collaborative environment that encourages students to take risks and express themselves effectively through writing​

    • 6-8 Advanced Math Workshop

      • The 6-8 Advanced Math Workshop aims to deepen students' understanding of mathematical concepts, enhance problem-solving skills, and prepare them for more advanced math courses. Tutors strive to create an engaging and supportive learning environment that encourages exploration, collaboration, and a positive attitude towards mathematics.​

  • EXECUTIVE SUPERPOWERS: Monday and Wednesday 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

      • The EXECUTIVE SUPERPOWERS Workshop for K-6th graders involves engaging activities and lessons that help students develop essential skills such as time management, organization, planning, and self-control.​

    • EXPRESSIVE ART: Monday and Wednesday 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

      • The EXPRESSIVE ART Workshop for K-6th graders involves creative and age-appropriate activities that allow students to explore different art forms and express themselves​

    • MONEY MATTER$: Tuesday and Thursday 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

      • The MONEY MATTER$ Workshop for students in grades 3-5 involves introducing basic financial concepts through engaging and age-appropriate activities. Designed to make learning about money fun.​

    • FITNESS FUN: Tuesday and Thursday 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

      • The FITNESS FUN Workshop for students in grades K-6 involves engaging activities that promote physical activity, teamwork, and a positive attitude toward fitness.​

    • READER’S THEATER​: Monday and Wednesday 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

      • Reader‘s Theater for students in grades 3-8 is an engaging and effective approach to fostering a love for reading and improving literacy skills. The goal Reader‘s Theater is to empower students to become independent, motivated readers. Youth will share their summer reading projects at the Santee Youth Business Fair on August 10th.​

    • BOOK IT!: Monday and Wednesday 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

      • BOOK IT! for students in grades 3-8 involves guiding participants through the various stages of the writing process from brainstorming ideas to completing a draft and publishing. Authors will share their creations at the Santee Youth Business Fair on August 10, 2024.​

    • YOUTH BIZ BUILDER: Tuesday and Thursday 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

      • The YOUTH BIZ BUILDER for students in grades 3-8 covers business planning, marketing, and pitching skills. Youth learn the essentials of turning their ideas into viable business concepts. Entrepreneurs that complete the full program and are ready to take their business to market earn a booth at the Santee Youth Business Fair on August 10, 2024.​

    • CREATE IT!: Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

      • CREATE IT! for students in grades 3-8 encourages creativity at its finest and messiest!.... Paper Mache, dioramas, sculptures ... oh my! Artists will showcase their creations at the Santee Youth Business Fair on August 10, 2024​

1 Elective = $40 per week

2 Electives = $60 per week

1 Workshop = $120 per week

Two Workshops = $200 per week

Three Workshops = $240 per week

Summer Project = $180 per 6 weeks

 

Scholarships Available. Ask for more information.

 

*Momentum will be closed in observance of Independence Day on Tuesday 7/4/24. A price difference for the 3 day week will be reflected on invoices.
